Primary Care Fellows 2010-2011
Matt Close, M.D.
Matt Close hails from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he studied biology and chemistry. After graduation, he moved to Colorado, initially coordinating marathon fundraising events for the American Diabetes Association, and later assisting with clinical research at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of Vail. Dr. Close eventually returned to the Midwest; first completing medical school at Des Moines University, then residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He always appreciates a good laugh, and enjoys most outdoor activities, especially snowboarding in the winter months.
Kevin Sprouse, M.D.
Kevin Sprouse grew up in Knoxville, TN, and attended college at Wake Forest University where he studied Health and Exercise Science. Afterward he spent time working as a backcountry adventure guide in Colorado, Washington, and Oregon. He also worked as an EMT and in an orthopedic practice in Charlotte, NC. He attended medical school at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech and then completed a residency in Emergency Medicine in New York City. Kevin has an interest in endurance sports and in treating endurance athletes. In his spare time he competes as a road cyclist and runner. He and his wife are expecting their first child this fall.
