Leaders In Orthopaedic Medicine Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Richard Hawkins teamed with Dr. J. Richard Steadman in 1990 to found the prestigious Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. In 2004 Dr. Hawkins relocated to Spartanburg, South Carolina, and along with several colleagues, established the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. Dr. Hawkins is recognized as one of the top orthopaedic surgeons in the world. He specializes in shoulder, elbow and knee reconstructive surgery and sports medicine He is a founding member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and has served in a leadership capacity in numerous national and international medical organizations. In the academic arena, Dr Hawkins has written five textbooks in shoulder surgery that are in use throughout the world today. He serves on the editorial board of numerous orthopaedic journals. During his career he has published more than 200 medical articles and educational videos. Dr. Hawkins has been listed as one of 100 of America’s Best Doctors. He is a Clinical Professor at both the University of Colorado and the University of Southwestern Texas Medical School.
