Orthopaedic Education
Today the Steadman Hawkins Fellowship program is considered one of the top sports
medicine fellowship programs in the world. As part of the comprehensive Fellowship
program, the orthopaedic surgeons chosen to participate refine their surgery skills
while conducting research into disease, treatment and prevention.

Labs for bioskills training and research in the upstate of South Carolina are being
developed. These labs will have state-of-the-art equipment and will provide facilities
for training in techniques, developing new techniques and becoming proficient with
new technologies available to orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, general surgeons, and allied health professionals. These labs will be part of the audio-video broadband network being developed by the University Medical Center at Greenville. This development will allow the educational experience to be broadcast to health care
professionals in numerous locations.

Exciting new musculoskeletal imaging labs are under way in the Carolinas. These labs
will allow musculoskeletal radiologists, orthopaedists, neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons and others who use imaging as part of their clinical practice to develop techniques and collaborate with radiologists for training experiences which will enhance the knowledge .
