Electronic Outcome Database Phase One Goes Live

The first of three phases in the development of technology designed to efficiently and accurately collect patient data and measure outcomes has been completed. With the completion of this phase, the ORFC research team can create a study in the application by defining the appropriate questions and data points, and collect the responses electronically via this Web-based application. Data can then be exported for analysis.

Working alongside our technology partner, Boundary Medical of Minneapolis, MN, the group is now working to allow for multiple data collection roles within the system to include Physicians, Interns and Patients. The plan calls for this Phase 2 completion in September and the final component – a total outcome collection system – by year-end.

The ORFC is currently working with Physicians to define the appropriate dataset that will include general and disease specific validated research instruments, based on specific joints of the body. This one-of-a-kind technology is an ambitious effort to advance the ability for medical professionals to continually improve care through leanings from such a database.
